Patrick Kunes is the most recent addition to Kunes Law Office, having been admitted to practice in November of 2008. He graduated from Tift County High School in 1999, where he received a full academic Governor's Scholarship through the Georgia Scholar Program. He attended the University of Georgia where he received a B.A. in 2003, earning a nomination for the Heggoy Award for best senior thesis in the History department. While in Athens he served as Lighting Director (LD) for live music performances at the prestigious Georgia Theatre. Patrick completed his J.D. at Georgia State University College of Law in 2008, where he served as Vice President of the Oglethorpe Legal Society and was an auctioneer for the Public Interest Law Association (PILA) Charity Auction for 3 years. He served as President of the Tifton Bar Association from 2010 - 2011, and is a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL) where he served as Vice-President in 2017. He also completed GACDL's Bill Daniel Trial Advocacy Program. He is a member of the Georgia Defense of Drinking Drivers (DODD) group, the National College of DUI Defense (NCDD) and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL). Patrick is also a Life Member (and sits on the NORML Legal Committee) of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) and keeps up to date with changes in the laws regarding marijuana, hash, THC edibles, THC wax, THC cartridges, Delta-8, dabs, and other cannabinoids and derivatives. Patrick was invited to be a speaker at Continuing Education seminars in the field of DUI defense put on by the Georgia State Bar Association (Moderator for a panel on ethics) and the Georgia Defense of Drinking Drivers Institute (Administrative License Suspension issues). Patrick has shared his innovative approach to handling the use of an "imaginary line" on the Walk and Turn DUI field sobriety test with other DUI lawyers in NCDD and DODD who have since adopted his cross-examination questions. Patrick specializes in DUI defense, marijuana and drug possession cases, criminal defense, speeding cases, reckless driving cases, suspended license cases, and other traffic offenses in Tifton and most of south Georgia. In his free time, he is active in his church, is a member of Tift County Tourism's Outreach Marketing Group, and has served as talent buyer for acts for Tifton's Rhythm & Ribs BBQ Festival (including working with three different artists who would go on to win Grammy Awards).
